Mikkeller made a name for himself brewing unique interpretations of modern US beer styles. As seems to be the trend in the US at the moment (Russian River and The Bruery spring to mind), traditional Belgian ales are now well and truly in vogue; especially sours. The most time consuming of all brews is extremely difficult to master, requiring skill not only in brewing, but in blending the resulting barrels. Sur Munk is a hybrid of two classic Belgian styles – a decadent, rich and sweet Quadrupel spiked with extremely sour, spontaneously fermented lambic.

Initially a limited edition collaboration with Toshi Ishti of Yo-Ho Brewing in Japan, this is now part of Nogne O's year round range. Bittered with Millenium hops, flavoured with Amarillo, Centennial and Brewers Gold, and dry hopped with Chinook and Centennial. The aroma is big warm citrus, floral, pine with caramel after notes. This is what double IPA is about - hops!!
